In Remembrance: Bob Gilbert
By Kathie Stapleton
While many of you may not have had the pleasure of meeting Bob Gilbert, I consider myself fortunate to have known him for 30 years and his passing is a tremendous loss…both professionally and personally.
In the article below, you can read about all the many ups and downs through which Bob led HSMAI and how he came up with creative ways to keep our association alive, relevant and solvent!
Speaking personally, I am grateful that Bob was so respectful of the legacy of my father, Frank Berkman and we talked often about how he hoped my dad would have been proud of the job he was doing…the answer to that was a resounding YES!
But he was much more than a great leader…he was a very kind and caring man…a true people person and connector. When you had a conversation with him, he made you feel as if you were the most important person in the room! Bob is a true industry icon and his impact will be felt for years to come
My heart goes out to Bob's family . When he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, he handled it with such grace and never lost his sense of humor. I am comforted that, after a brief battle, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
I will miss him dearly as a colleague and friend as will everyone who knew and loved him.
